Piran & the Coast
Description
Even though the Slovenian coastline is relatively short, you can find many gems there. The most picturesque of them all is Piran, a town built on a long pier. Its history stretches back to the time of the Venetian Republic when it was an important port. Now, its narrow streets are infused with Venetian and medieval-style architecture. This romantic vibe and an excellent panoramic photo op make it a place worth visiting on your day trip.
There are other places worth visiting on the Slovenian coast, like Koper, its largest urban centre, with its medieval Old Town. The coastline offers possibilities for cycling, hiking, and other seaside activities. To feel more of our Mediterranean vibe, you can visit a small town like Izola or the resort town of Portorož. And in Sečovlje Saltpans Natural Park you can see the history of the traditional saltworks.
