Wine regions
Description
Slovenia has three main wine-growing areas producing exquisite wines of every variety that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Of course, you can visit each wine region separately and enjoy their characteristic wines. Alternatively, you can go wine tasting in Ljubljana, the capital city and a cultural centre of Slovenia, where all these diverse wine cultures collide. That way, your tastebuds can make their journey around Slovenia in one day.
If you want to experience this land of winemaking, we can take you to any of the wine regions. Vipava Valley below the ridge of Mt. Nanos with the bora-swept wine-hills, the rugged landscape of the Karst or the Mediterranean feel of the Slovenian Coast and the most famous Goriška Brda are all located in the southwestern Slovenia. To the east, you can either head north to the ancient Styria region or Prekmurje and south to the rolling hills of Dolenjska region and Bela Krajina.
Small family-owned wineries are producing some of the best authentic Slovenian wines. A visit to the rustic villages for a wine tasting at these local winemakers and visiting their wine cellars will surely stay in your mind, and your heart, for a long time after.
